Significant Industrial Benefits Investments in Ontario

OTTAWA, ONTARIO,(Marketwire), Jan. 25, 2008) - The Honourable Jim Prentice, Minister of Industry, along with his colleague, the Honourable John Baird, Minister of the Environment, today welcomed the news that Boeing and Lockheed Martin are providing contracts in Ontario with a Canadian content value of more than $341 million, as part of their industrial benefits commitments to Canada.

"These significant investments are a sign of confidence in the talent and abilities of our region's businesses, which have demonstrated that they have what it takes to become part of Boeing's and Lockheed Martin's global supply chains," said Minister Baird.

All of these contracts and investments are the result of the government's purchase of strategic and tactical airlift capabilities for the Canadian Forces. Under Canada's industrial benefits policy, major government procurements carry with them the guarantee that prime contractors will invest 100 percent of their contract values in the Canadian economy. Contractors are free to engage in commercial activities that make good business sense to them, thereby enabling them to build long-lasting business relationships.

The purchase and support of four C-17 aircraft from Boeing will see that company undertake approximately $1.5 billion in economic activity in Canada. In another contract for the recently announced procurement of 17 C-130J Hercules aircraft, Lockheed Martin has agreed to an $842-million investment, with further in-service support commitments to be negotiated over the next year.

"These investments are today's snapshot of the economic activity that has begun to flow from the strategic and tactical airlift procurement," said the Honourable Jim Prentice, Minister of Industry. "They represent just the beginning of the significant industrial benefits to be realized in the coming years."

Given the extensive capacity of Canadian industry, businesses from all regions of the country are benefiting from these two major procurements, and are likewise expected to benefit further from the government's overall "Canada First" initiative. More projects, each with a guaranteed dollar-for-dollar return on investment, are expected in the future.

BACKGROUNDER

Industrial Economic Benefits for Canadians

Canada's Industrial Benefits Policy

Industrial benefits are a significant part of all major defence procurements, including strategic and tactical airlift projects.

The Government of Canada is working to ensure that these procurements deliver maximum, high-quality economic benefits to Canadians, and that Canadian firms are well positioned to play significant roles as these projects progress.

Canada's industrial benefits policy provides the framework for using specific federal procurements to create long-term industrial development. Under the policy, contractors must undertake quality economic activities in advanced technology sectors of the Canadian economy. These activities must be an amount equal to 100 percent of the contract value. At least 60 percent of the proposed activities must be identified before contracts are awarded, with the balance specified during the life of the project.

The policy provides significant long-term benefits to Canadians by:

- increasing Canadian industrial competitiveness, market access, commercialization and investment in high-technology sectors

- placing Canadian firms in the global supply chains of major international corporations

- providing the incentive for contractors to partner with Canadian companies as team players or as subcontractors

- developing and maintaining a capacity in Canada to deliver long-term equipment support to the Canadian Forces

- promoting growth of Canada's small and medium-sized enterprises and the development of regional industrial capacity

Industrial benefits commitments are a legally binding part of the contract, and their administration and verification are Industry Canada's responsibility, with the assistance of regional development agencies. The Department also works closely with the Department of National Defence and PWGSC, from the early stages of the project through to completion.

More information on the policy can be found at the following website: irb-rir.gc.ca.

Industrial Benefits from "Canada First" Procurements

As is always the case with major government procurements, the prime contractors involved in "Canada First" procurements are undertaking quality economic activities in advanced technology sectors of the Canadian economy at an amount equal to 100 percent of their contract values.

Moreover, in the case of "Canada First" procurements, contractors must realize a minimum of 50 percent of their industrial benefits in the aerospace and defence sector, as well as a minimum of 30 percent in identified key technologies and a minimum of 15 percent in small and medium-sized businesses.

The government has collaborated with the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada and the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries to establish a series of nine key technologies. For aerospace-related projects, Canadian benefits must not only be of high value and high technology, but at least 30 percent of them must be targeted to those technologies that are key to the success of the industry over the next decades. This will allow our industry to get the best possible benefit now and well into the future from these procurements.

The nine technologies, all of which are high tech, are as follows:

- advanced manufacturing and emerging materials

- avionics and missions systems

- communications and control

- propulsion and power management

- security and protection

- sensors

- simulation, training and synthetic environment

- space

- unmanned vehicle systems

FACT SHEET

Government of Canada's Strategic and Tactical Airlift Procurements

Strategic Airlift Procurement

On February 2, 2007, the Government of Canada announced a $750-million agreement with Boeing for the acquisition of four C-17 aircraft.

Boeing also signed a related agreement to provide in-service support for the equipment. The value of that contract is also $750 million

Under Canada's industrial benefits policy, Boeing has an obligation to generate economic activity in Canada at an amount equivalent to the total value of those contracts ($1.5 billion).

The company has already identified $795 million in industrial benefit transactions throughout Canada.

Today, we are welcoming the announcement of those transactions in this region.

Tactical Airlift Procurement

On January 16, 2008, the Government of Canada announced a $1.4-billion contract with Lockheed Martin for the acquisition of 17 C-130J aircraft.

Under Canada's industrial benefits policy, Lockheed Martin has an obligation to generate economic activity in Canada at an amount equivalent to the contract ($1.4 billion).

The company has already identified $842 million in industrial benefit transactions throughout Canada.

Commissioner of Official Languages Calls for Increased Support for Research on Linguistic Duality and for Researchers in Official Language Minority Co

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 9, 2008) - Linguistic duality is given a low priority by federal government research funding agencies, the Commissioner of Official Languages, Graham Fraser, said today. He was commenting on a study on the role of Canadian federal research funding agencies in the promotion of official languages. "Research on linguistic duality is a valuable tool for governments, which develop policies and programs, and for the communities themselves, so they can evaluate their vitality, progress and needs," said the Commissioner. "In order to respect their obligations under the Official Languages Act to promote linguistic duality and enhance the vitality of official language minority communities, federal research funding agencies must take the special circumstances of researchers in official language minority communities into account, enable them to conduct research in their own language and encourage research on linguistic duality."

This study examines the situation of researchers working in official language minority communities and looks at how official languages are being supported as a research subject. Beyond the low-priority status given to research on linguistic duality, the study shows that researchers in official language minority universities face other significant obstacles, including the general predominance of English in published research, the limited language skills of reviewers who assess funding proposals in French, as well as inadequate research infrastructure, support and networking opportunities in smaller universities.

In order to level the playing field without compromising excellence, these researchers need access to more appropriate tools and resources. The Commissioner noted that while federal research funding agencies can make important contributions in this regard, increased support from universities and the government is also needed. "Research on official language minority communities and linguistic duality needs to be better integrated into research programs and projects so it can become a priority in university and government research programs," said Mr. Fraser.

Fortunately, progress is within reach. The study reveals that both researchers and representatives of the research funding agencies are putting forth ideas and best practices to encourage research within post-secondary institutions in official language minority communities.

The Commissioner issued eight recommendations to federal research funding agencies in order to ensure that researchers from official language minority communities are better equipped and supported in their research efforts, as well as encourage research on issues related to linguistic duality. Mr. Fraser issued a further recommendation to the Canada Research Chairs Program inviting universities to create and fund research chairs related to official languages issues.

LVFH to license Asian Multi-Player Software Platform ("AMSP") to CY Foundation Group; CY Foundation licensed in the People's Republic of China to operate online games.
Hong Kong based investor group to invest CDN$9.7 million of a proposed $10 million financing in TD.

LVFH to receive 40,000,000 common shares or 26.5% in the capital of TD in return for providing a copy of its AMSP to TD.

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 9, 2008) - Las Vegas From Home.com Entertainment Inc. (the "Company") or ("LVFH") (TSX VENTURE:LVH)(OTCBB:LVFHF)(BERLIN:LVH)(FRANKFURT:LVH), through its wholly-owned subsidiary, has signed a Software Licensing Agreement ("SLA") with the subsidiary of CY Foundation Group Limited ("CYF") (HKSE:1182) to provide CYF and its subsidiaries (the "CYF Group") with its software gaming platform in the People's Republic of China ("PRC"). CYF, through a controlled entity in the PRC, is licensed by the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the PRC to operate online games and tournaments across China.

President and CEO, Mr. Jake Kalpakian, states, "This is a tremendous opportunity for the Company. This relationship allows us to be a recognized supplier in arguably the world's most sought after market, all through a strong and solid organization such as CYF Group which has the licensing approvals from the government to operate tournament style games online as well as having a very impressive distribution network. To learn more about CYF Group, please visit www.cyfoundation.com."

The Transaction:

Phase One

In addition to entering into an SLA to provide CYF Group with software for the entire PRC in which CYF Group pays LVFH a standard licensing royalty, the Company has also entered into a Definitive Agreement to pay CYF CDN$850,000 in order for CYF Group to exclusively use LVFH Software ("Exclusivity Rights") to operate both the popular "Fight the Landlord" ("Dou Di Zhu") and "13 Card Poker" ("Shi San Zhang") online games (the "Selected LVFH Software") in the Henan Province and in the city of Beijing including its suburbs (the "Designated Territory"). CYF Group shall pay royalty payments to LVFH the greater of either 10% (ten percent) of all tournament fees collected by CYF Group less the tournament prizes paid to the players or 1% (one percent) of all tournament collection fees collected by CYF Group without any deductions for prizes paid to the players that are generated from the operations of the Selected LVFH Software and/or any other similar software CYF Group uses in the Designated Territory.

To acquire the Exclusivity Rights for its software in the Designated Territory for CDN$850,000, LVFH has arranged with Special Opportunity Limited ("SPO"), an investment holding company, to enter into a private placement with the Company to subscribe for 5,000,000 Units of the securities of LVFH at CDN$0.17 per unit with one whole warrant to buy an additional share at CDN$0.25 for a period of twelve months. The above transaction is subject to TSX Venture Exchange ("Exchange") and regulatory approvals.

Mr. Kalpakian adds, "The purchase of the Exclusivity Rights for certain games in the Designated Territory not only solidifies our long term operating position in the PRC, but also has tremendous potential when you factor in the populations of Henan Province and Beijing, approximately 93.7 million and 15.3 million respectively, according to the National Bureau of Statistics of China www.stats.gov.cn/english/."

Phase Two

LVFH, CYF, SPO and TD have signed a Letter of Intent ("LOI") to effect the following transaction that would also be TD's proposed "Qualifying Transaction". TD, a capital pool company listed on the Exchange (TSX:TDW.P), is related to LVFH by certain common management and directors. The transaction will include, but not limited to, the following terms and conditions:

(a) TD will forward split its common shares on a 2 (new) for 1 (old) share basis;

(b) LVFH will sell to TD an undivided interest in the Asian Multi-player Software Platform and the Software Licensing Agreement between itself and CYF Group for a consideration of 40,000,000 post-split common shares of TD and LVFH will not sell or dividend out 20,000,000 of such shares prior to the date which is six months following the completion of the Qualifying Transaction and LVFH will not sell or dividend out the remaining 20,000,000 of such shares prior to the date which is two years following the completion of the Qualifying Transaction;

(c) SPO will purchase 97,000,000 post-split units of TD (the "TD Units") and LVFH will arrange for purchasers of an aggregate of 3,000,000 TD Units at the price of CDN$0.10 per TD Unit for aggregate gross proceeds to TD of CDN$10,000,000, each TD Unit being comprised of one post-split common share of TD and one non-transferable share purchase warrant (a "TD Warrant"), where each TD Warrant entitles the holder to purchase one additional post-split common share of TD at the price of CDN$0.1875 for a term of one year. Upon completion of the proposed transaction in Phase Two, both SPO and LVFH will separately be control block shareholders in TD;

(d) TD will pay CDN$850,000 to LVFH in consideration for its acquisition from LVFH of the Exclusivity Rights, payable as to CDN$425,000 in cash and as to CDN$425,000 in post-split common shares of TD to be issued at a deemed price equal to the five day average trading price of the post-split common shares of Touchdown immediately following the first 30 days of trading following the completion of the Qualifying Transaction less the maximum discount permitted by the Exchange; and,

(e) Upon completion of the transaction, the proposed board composition of TD will be Jake Kalpakian and Bedo Kalpakian, two nominees of SPO, and one independent director.

TD will be engaging Wellington West Capital Markets as a member firm of the Exchange to sponsor the Qualifying Transaction. Along with Wellington West, Evans and Evans will also be engaged to provide a Fairness Evaluation and Business Plan in the form that meets the requirements of the Exchange as well as assist in preparing a detailed Information Circular and Disclosure Document also in the form required by the Exchange. The entire Qualifying Transaction will be subject to Exchange, shareholders and any other applicable approvals. In the event that all the necessary approvals are not obtained by April 30, 2008, the second phase of the transaction will be terminated and will be of no further force or effect.

Mr. Kalpakian continues, "We are excited at the opportunities Phase Two of the transaction potentially offers. The funding of approximately CDN$10,000,000 into TD will allow for a strong infrastructure and marketing investment by TD in China. For CYF Group, it allows for another development office to be opened in the PRC to meet their specific development requirements for a larger variety of games much faster. For TD and LVFH shareholders, it will allow them to participate in a pure and licensed online gaming business in the PRC."

Burton Group Develops Five Immutable Laws of Virtualization Security

SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwire) - Burton Group, an IT research firm focused on enterprise infrastructure technologies, published a report providing five immutable laws of virtualization security to help IT organizations ensure improved protection of virtual environments.

Virtualized environments are poised to provide significant operational benefits to enterprises, but they are not without their risks. The introduction of a new layer of software -- in the form of the hypervisor -- and the new architectures that provide the benefits must be evaluated from a security perspective to understand the risk and security impact.

In the report, "Attacking and Defending Virtual Environments," senior analyst Pete Lindstrom reports the threat level for virtualization technologies is accelerating quickly as adoption of virtualization grows. Additionally, malicious attackers are realizing that virtual environments are cheaper targets.

With a clear understanding of an organizations specific use cases of virtualization, combined with standard risk principles, Burton Group developed a set of five immutable laws to help IT organizations drive security decisions in virtual environments:

Law 1: All existing OS-level attacks work in the exact same way.

Law 2: The hypervisor attack surface is additive to a system's risk profile.

Law 3: Separating functionality and/or content into virtual machines (VM) will reduce risk.

Law 4: Aggregating functions and resources onto a physical platform will increase risk.

Law 5: A system containing a "trusted" VM on an "untrusted" host has a higher risk level than a system containing a "trusted" host with an "untrusted" VM.

"Burton Group recommends the best way to determine how virtualization impacts security is to determine where and when to apply controls that are sufficient in the environment based on risk tolerance," says Lindstrom. "Ultimately, whether virtualization is a bane or boon for security depends on how the systems are configured, deployed and managed."

More details about the five immutable laws of virtualization on Burton Group's Security and Risk Management Strategies blog at http://srmsblog.burtongroup.com//.

British Columbia Lottery Corporation: Cross-Country Family Visit Pays $37 Million

B.C. Woman and Ontario Brother Share LOTTO 6/49 Jackpot

RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 4, 2008) - British Columbia Lottery Corporation congratulates Alycia Heitt of Delta, B.C. and her brother Larry McAuliffe of Peterborough, Ontario. The brother and sister shared in the purchase of the winning Lotto 6/49 ticket for the January 2, 2008 draw and today claimed their jackpot prize of $37,344,184 from OLG.

After purchasing the ticket in Peterborough on December 30, Alycia flew home on December 31. The 41-year old office manager for a forest products company decided to check the winning numbers on www.bclc.com from her desk at work yesterday. "I was saying to myself, Oh my god I think I won, and I had my assistant check the numbers too," Alycia said.

After first visiting the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, Alycia quickly decided to return on the red-eye flight to Ontario to claim her prize as the winning ticket had to be validated by OLG. She also left an urgent message for her brother, "She asked me if I was sitting down, and at first I didn't believe her!" Larry said.

Alycia plans to return to B.C. "to train someone else to do my job" and then think about the future with her husband and their four children ages 15 to 22. Plans likely include a new house and a family vacation. Today also marks her daughter's 22nd birthday. Larry, age 39, has already left his job as a service technician and installer for a water products company. A single father of four boys ages 12-19 says he will likely invest for the future as well as "buy some things for kids than I could never afford on my own." The winning ticket was sold at the Lansdowne Mall in Peterborough.

"We're happy about the big jackpot win in Ontario and even happier half of the cash is going to make its way back to B.C.," said Owen Gormley, Corporate Communications Officer.

Lotto 6/49 is the national lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 6 p.m. (PST). Players can purchase tickets at any lottery retailer or at PlayNow on bclc.com. Group release forms for people playing in groups can be obtained at local lottery retailers or on bclc.com. The sale of lottery tickets to anyone under 19 is prohibited by law.

Government of Canada Continues to Defend Canadian Agricultural Interests

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire) - The Honourable Gerry Ritz, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board, today issued the following statement in response to the release of eight new working documents by Crawford Falconer, Chair of the World Trade Organization agriculture negotiations.

"The Government of Canada continues to seek an ambitious outcome to the WTO negotiations that benefits the entire agriculture sector, including both export-oriented and supply-managed industries."

"The Chair of the agriculture negotiations has issued working documents covering market access issues to outline his view of the direction of the negotiations. The documents do not represent consensus among WTO Members and will be subject to a lot of further discussion. Like all Members, Canada brings balanced positions to these negotiations and this Government is working toward a deal that recognizes the interests of all Canadian farm families.

"This Government is pleased that one of the documents outlines a formula for significant tariff reductions for non-sensitive products. This is important for Canada's agriculture and agri-food exporters. Canada's positions are also well-reflected in many of Mr. Falconer's other documents.

"However, we do have significant concerns about key elements of the Chair's document on sensitive products. Canada continues to actively oppose any tariff quota expansion or tariff cuts for sensitive products and we continue to take a firm position on this issue.

"This Government has shown leadership in supporting supply management and the benefits it delivers to farm families. We will continue to strongly defend interests that are important to our supply-managed industries at the WTO.

"This Government is actively involved in these negotiations as well as bilateral negotiations so that we can secure the best possible outcome for our farmers, their families and the entire agriculture sector."

Some highlights are summarized below. For complete details about IDRC’s participation in GK3, visit www.idrc.ca/gk3.

BUILDING BASKETS TO REBUILD LIVES
Marginalized women in Malaysia are being given the opportunity to earn income by weaving or selling eco-baskets made from recycled paper. The IDRC-supported e-homemakers project is a community network that promotes working from home, teleworking, and the running of small office/home office businesses through the use of ICTs. IDRC VICE PRESIDENT AT PRESS CONFERENCE
The reach of ICTs in developing countries is likely underestimated, said IDRC’s Vice President of Programs, Rohinton Medhora, during a joint Microsoft, Global Knowledge Partnership, and IDRC press conference about their telecentre.org partnership at GK3 on December 12. While an estimated one billion people now have access to ICTs, countless more are indirectly touched by their effects, said Medhora. He highlighted the IDRC-funded AED-SATELLIFE project, which introduced personal digital assistants and training to healthcare providers in rural Mozambique. Though only a few people may be using the hand-held technology, hundreds more are touched by its effects, said Medhora.

CRA/Resolve to Correct Your Tax Information

Begin the New Year With a Clean Slate and a Clear Conscience!

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 3, 2008) - Did you fail to file an accurate tax return or not file at all, but should have? The Canada Revenue Agency's (CRA) Voluntary Disclosures Program may be able to help. The program allows people to come forward and correct their tax information and avoid being penalized, criminally investigated and prosecuted.

Last year the CRA processed 8,244 disclosures for taxpayers who used the Voluntary Disclosures Program and got a second chance to comply with their tax obligations. Coming clean saved these taxpayers from an audit or a criminal investigation, which can result in penalties, fines, and even jail time. Their valid disclosures involved more than $525 million in taxes.

By encouraging taxpayers to come forward and correct the information they filed with the CRA, the Voluntary Disclosures Program helps protect the tax base and makes tax administration fair for all Canadians.

If you make a full disclosure before we start any compliance action or investigation, you may only have to pay the taxes owing, plus interest. If we come to you first, you could end up paying penalties and fines, and even face jail time.

Government of Canada Invests in Newfoundland and Labrador Company

Natural Resources Canada: Government of Canada Invests in Newfoundland and Labrador Company to Build Next-generation Internet Portals

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 3, 2008) - The Honourable Loyola Hearn, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, on behalf of the Honourable Gary Lunn, Minister of Natural Resources (NRCan), today announced $2 million in funding for a contract with Compusult Limited of Saint John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Under the terms of the competitively awarded contract, the information technology company will build two next-generation portals for GeoConnections, a national program led by NRCan. GeoConnections works with partners to expand the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI), an online resource that provides Canadians with access to geospatial - or location-based - information and technologies.

"The CGDI currently provides decision makers with access to online Web mapping and other information and technologies, enabling them to better monitor, understand and tackle some of Canada's most pressing challenges," said Minister Hearn. "This contract will bring further enhancements to data access for Canadians and will enable this Newfoundland and Labrador company to expand its geomatics expertise and centre of operations."

Geospatial information and technologies are used for a wide range of purposes, including managing Canada's resources and environment, improving public safety and public health, and addressing matters of importance to Aboriginal peoples. Geospatial information may take the form of maps and satellite images or data associated with a particular location. The technologies involved range from GIS and GPS navigation systems to online mapping applications.

Compusult will develop two key components of the CGDI: the GeoConnections Discovery Portal, which serves as the "Yellow Pages" for the CGDI, and GeoGratis, the largest repository of freely available location-based data available in Canada. Together, these two components provide an online gateway to millions of data products and services.

Under the new contract, Compusult will connect these next-generation portals to data, tools, applications and systems throughout the CGDI. In their upgraded versions, the two portals will be compatible with other geospatial data infrastructures worldwide.

This initiative supports the Government of Canada's new Science and Technology strategy - Mobilizing Science and Technology to Canada's Advantage - designed to create a business environment that encourages the private sector to innovate and also guides intelligent, strategic investments of public funds.

More information about GeoConnections and the CGDI is available at www.geoconnections.org.

British Columbia Securities Commission: Commission Panel Fines and Permanently Bans Man Who Breached Order

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire) - A British Columbia Securities Commission panel has fined a North Vancouver businessman $200,000 and permanently banned him from participating in the province's capital markets for breaching a commission order.

In 1999, after admitting to contraventions of the Securities Act when he was a director and officer of Arakis Energy Corporation, James Terrence Alexander paid the BCSC $1.2 million and consented to an order prohibiting him from being a director or officer of any issuer, engaging in investor relations activities, and trading in securities, for 20 years.

In 2005, a B.C. provincial court judge convicted Alexander of breaching the 1999 order by acting as a director and officer of four private companies, and fined him $2,000.

On October 24, 2007, a commission panel found that Alexander contravened the order when he acted as a director and officer of seven companies, and when he engaged in investor relation activities for one of the seven companies. The panel also found that Anne Christine Eilers acted contrary to the public interest when she assisted Alexander to breach the order by allowing him to direct the affairs of JT Alexander and Associates Holding Corporation while she was its sole director and officer of record.

In addition to imposing an administrative penalty of $200,000, the panel permanently prohibited Alexander, with limited exceptions, from trading or purchasing securities, from becoming or acting as a director or officer of any issuer, and from engaging in investor relations activities.

For her role in assisting Alexander to breach the order, the panel prohibited Eilers from becoming or acting as a director or officer of any issuer (except one she owns) for one year. She must also complete a course on the duties and responsibilities of directors and officers.

Oil at $100-The Case for Biofuels is Crystal Clear

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire) - The case for biofuels, such as ethanol and biodiesel, has never been stronger, said the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association in response to oil breaking the $100 a barrel mark today for the first time ever.

"Oil at $100 makes the case for biofuels crystal clear. The price of oil is simply too high and too unreliable. We must continue to diversify our fuel supply" said Gordon Quaiattini, President of the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association. "Biofuels, such as ethanol and biodiesel, are real viable alternatives and are better for the environment, prices, and farmers."

The government of Canada is implementing numerous measures to build a homegrown renewable fuels industry in Canada, including requiring 5% renewable content in gasoline by 2010 and a 2% renewable content in diesel and home heating fuel by no later than 2012. The 2007 federal budget also provided $2 billion to produce renewable fuels in Canada, and commercialize next-generation renewable fuels technologies, such as cellulose ethanol.

These renewable fuel measures will help fight global warming by reducing harmful greenhouse gases (GHGs) and result in an annual 4.2 megatonne reduction in net GHG emissions - the equivalent of removing more than one million cars from our roads.

Canada's new biofuels industry will also help wheat and canola farmers in the west, and corn and soy bean farmers in the east. Twenty new world-class biofuels facilities are expected to create over 14,000 new jobs in rural communities, and provide a new market for over 200 million bushels of Canadian grains and oilseeds.

Founded in 1994, the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association is a non-profit organization with a mission to promote renewable transportation fuels through consumer awareness and government liaison activities. The CRFA membership is comprised of representatives from all levels of the ethanol and biodiesel industry, including: grain and cellulose ethanol producers, biodiesel producers, fuel technology providers, and agricultural associations.
